Through Knowledge – to Gender Equality

In June 2022, KMPA became a partner of the Spotlight Initiative to eliminate violence against women and girls – Regional Program for Central Asia and Afghanistan, which is implemented with the support of the European Union and the United Nations.

More than 100 organizations applied for the competition “Strengthening the capacity of civil society organizations and the regional women’s movement to end gender-based violence in Central Asia”, which resulted in the selection of 10 civil society organizations from Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan) to conduct trainings for other organizations in their country. KMPA was one of these NGO selected to implement a 6 month project “Through Knowledge – to Gender Equality”.

The first stage of the project was participation in a three-day training for trainers (TOT) in Almaty. The TOT program included the development of adult learning skills, gender analysis of public policies and the development of institutions for equality, strategic communications, and effective promotion of the gender equality and human rights agenda.

The trained trainers conducted two 2-day trainings “Strategy of Achieving Gender Equality” in Almaty for 46 participants of Kazakhstan NGOS and two training sessions in Kostanay for 35 health workers in the framework of workshop on traffic prevention.

The further educational activities will go on until the end of October.
